Preparing for future measurement challenges

The energy industry is continuing to change. Decarbonisation, new technologies and changing regulations are creating new measurement challenges. Our inquisitive approach means continually looking at those challenges, understanding what the industry needs and developing new ways to apply our expertise.

Responding to these challenges means both applying our established expertise in new ways and developing new products and services as industry requirements change.

Supporting carbon capture and storage CO2 purity

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is an important part of industrial decarbonisation and is creating new requirements for accurate CO₂ measurement. EffecTech is currently developing a range of high-quality, low-uncertainty traceable reference materials for CO₂ purity measurement to support these requirements.

Improving stability through cylinder passivation – DB Gold

We continue to develop new products and services in response to changing measurement needs. DB Gold, developed by EffecTech’s Research and Development Laboratory, is our proprietary cylinder passivation treatment designed to improve stability for reactive components.

Supporting hydrogen-enriched gas measurement

Changes to existing energy sources are also creating new measurement requirements. As hydrogen is blended with natural gas, LNG or biomethane, instruments need to be able to accurately measure the changing gas composition. EffecTech can support these applications with suitable calibration gases and performance evaluations.

Ready for what comes next

These developments continue a pattern that has defined EffecTech for 30 years: understanding changing measurement requirements and developing the expertise, products and services needed to meet them.

We cannot know exactly how the energy industry will develop over the next 30 years. Supported by our experience, independence and integrity, and the wider capabilities of Linde, we will continue to evolve alongside it, helping customers make measurements they can trust.

Our ability to respond will continue to build on the accredited expertise we already hold across different aspects of gas measurement.

Meeting these challenges will depend on the people who develop and apply our expertise. Read perspectives from across EffecTech, BOC and Linde on the knowledge, values and priorities that will shape EffecTech’s next chapter.
