Shell is a key provider of the energy that millions of people use for heating and powering the UK. We are operator for about 25% of the UK’s oil and gas supplies and produce about 16% of the nation’s petrol and diesel. We are probably best known to the public for our service stations and we have around 900 retail sites in the UK. Our Stanlow refinery near Ellesmere Port in Cheshire is at the heart of Britain’s oil and chemical industry, producing a range of transport fuels, including Shell V-Power, and chemicals for industry.

Our role is to ensure that we extract and deliver them profitably and in environmentally and socially responsible ways. Our two main businesses are Shell U.K. Exploration and Production, an operating division of Shell U.K. Limited, and Shell U.K. Oil Products Limited. Each has its own board of directors and is a subsidiary of Shell Holdings (U.K.) Limited.
