5 February 2014: EffecTech shortlisted in Sentinel Business Awards

EffecTech have been shortlisted in the Small Business of the Year category of The Sentinel Business Awards 2014.

The highlight of the regional business calendar, this competition rewards the very best, the most successful and the most innovative firms from across Staffordshire and Cheshire. This year’s event, a black tie dinner for 420 guests, will take place at the King’s Hall in Stoke on the evening of Tuesday, March 25. VIPs on the night will include a host of civic dignitaries, MPs from across Staffordshire and representatives from leading, local businesses.

6 January 2014: ‘Assessing the UK’s gas quality measurement infrastructure’ published in Gas International

Chris Cowper and Dr Gavin Squire’s article ‘Assessing the UK’s gas quality measurement infrastructure’ was published in the December 2013 edition of Gas International. The article investigates whether our existing measurement infrastructure can cope with the new LNG gas compositions found in the network. Click here to download the article.

21 October 2013: UKAS success in India

EffecTech's ISO 17025 accredited facility near Mumbai in India was the place to be on Saturday as auditors from UKAS joined us to reassess our specialty gas production and calibration laboratory. Dr Gavin Squire (CEO, EffecTech Group) and Padmakar Tillu (MD, EffecTech Gases, India) hosted the UKAS team who flew over from the UK. The day finished with a recommendation from UKAS auditors that our award of accreditation be maintained and extended for a further four years. Well done to all the local staff at EffecTech Gases who played their part in making this a successful reassessment.

11 October 2013: UKAS reassessment at Uttoxeter

This week EffecTech had a two day visit from a team of five auditors from UKAS. The visit was part of the reassessment of our entire suite of UKAS accreditations; ISO 17020, 1SO 17025 and ISO 17043. The visit was successful due to the hard work of all involved.

4 October 2013: EffecTech welcomes an Engineering Doctorate

This week saw the beginning of a new venture for EffecTech in partnership with Loughborough University, University of Nottingham and University of Birmingham. Joey Walker will be working with EffecTech as part of his research for his Engineering Doctorate. Part of Joey’s research will involve improving methods for the measurement of gaseous fuels. We are excited about being a part of this area of research and development.

6 September 2013: Another successful visit from UKAS

A surveillance visit for our ISO 17020 Inspection accreditation took place at Dove House on 5 September. We shall be recommended for continuation of the accreditation, so well done to all involved.

2 September 2013: The EffecTech family grows

Today EffecTech welcomes three new employees to its Uttoxeter location. Greg Walker and Leon Kashap join the Site Services team as Gas Quality Engineers to meet our increasing demand for ISO 10723 Performance Evaluations and ISO 17020 Inspections of gas quality measurement systems. Simon Yau joins our world leading calibration laboratory as a Scientist. We wish them a long and successful career within the company.

30 August 2013: A fond farewell to Patrick Wallis

After 17 years service, EffecTech said its goodbyes today to Patrick Wallis, Founding Partner and Director of Operations. A day of mixed emotions saw Patrick receive various mementos from his time with the Company including a facsimile chromatogram of natural gas, a specially commissioned drawing of the Company and its staff represented as caricatures and a cast metal service award.

Dr Gavin Squire, CEO EffecTech Group, said "The recognised status of EffecTech as Global Leaders in Gas Measurement is testament to the contribution Patrick has made since the Company's humble beginnings in 1996. He will be sorely missed."

8 August 2013: ISO 17025 accreditation for CEM gases

EffecTech are pleased to announce that they have extended their ISO 17025 scope of accreditation and are now accredited providers of gases for the calibration of continuous emission monitors. The scope of accreditation includes the measurands CO, CO2, SO2, O2 and NO in nitrogen for both the Uttoxeter and Doha locations. 10 July 2013: Across the North Sea

A new book featuring EffecTech was released today. Across the North Sea is a publication which pays tribute to the inspiring history of the British oil and gas industry and the technological innovations that have shaped it. The book can be downloaded as an e-book from http://www.hornonline.com

13 June 2013: ISO 17020 accreditation for Inspection formally granted by UKAS

Today EffecTech added another UKAS accreditation to their portfolio. ISO17020:2012 Inspection Bodies, Type C accreditation was granted for the Inspection of on-line gas quality measurement systems. This is the fourth separate accreditation granted by UKAS.

21 May 2013: Visit from British High Commission, Singapore

We had a visit from Ian Turner who is a senior trade & Investment manager at the British High Commission in Singapore today. Ian is trying to encourage UK companies to trade more with Singapore and introduce companies like EffecTech to potential customers in the far east.

8 May 2013: EffecTech staff sign safety promise

The final deliverable from EffecTech’s safety day, the Safety Promise was signed by staff today. During the brainstorming session in January, EffecTech staff identified particular areas of their work where they felt safety behaviour could be improved thus developing a more robust safety culture within the company. The safety promise is displayed near the entrance of Dove House reminding all staff several times per day of their commitment to maintaining a safe working culture & environment.

29 April 2013: Two new members of staff

EffecTech have been successful in recruiting two new members of staff. Katie Forrester and Viv Lee joined the company today and will be working in the sales and laboratory teams.
